Ultimate CEO 2022: Russell Baker of Wingard - Jacksonville Business Journal

MBA, Northwestern University Kellogg School of Management; Bachelor’s in accounting, University of GeorgiaJaxChamber trustee, board member of Feeding Northeast Florida and First Coast American Heart Association, member of advisory board for the Davis College of Business at Jacksonville University.

The lessons learned from that experience some 15 years ago have carried over to Wingard, the Jacksonville-based marketing and advertising agency Baker joined in 2016. After working as the agency’s chief strategy officer, he was promoted to CEO of the company, which had expanded its workforce and service offerings over the previous decade.

That decision has paid off from a business standpoint, the CEO said, and has also shaped the culture of the agency, with things like a Slack channel where employees celebrate the city’s wins. Baker came to Wingard looking to make a difference, both at the agency and in the community. Having seen the transformation Atlanta went through, he felt Jacksonville was on the cusp of its own transformation.
