Companies in many sectors across Canada are reworking their hiring practices as aging workers contribute to the ongoing labour shortage.

Even employers who haven't seen big numbers of retirements happen yet are beginning to plan ahead. With increases in condominium and other building projects, the City of Toronto needs engineers, city planners and other workers now.

The City of Toronto needs workers now, like these engineers, to help keep up with city building projects, but it is also looking ahead to looming retirements. Those include partnering with local universities to hire engineering graduates and tapping into underemployed populations by working with non-profit agencies that focus on inclusive hiring, anything to "attract younger new talent who would be willing to then stay and then grow in the organization," Ross said.

News Start paying and giving flex time

News Looking at how the over 65 or people with comorbidities have been left on their own to take care of their protection from Covid-19 I don't blame them. Now lets hear the complaining 'again' about boomers, the ones being culled. Have fun-who's going to look after your Covid-19 a$$

News Pay more ! Be fair !

News I hate all of them

raise your wages, then

I’m over 70, in good health, and go nuts not working. So I got a job in the warehouse of a major retailer. In a crew of 10, or so, more than 50% are over 60. Flexible schedule, an employer that makes allowances for older employees;it’s a blast! I’ll keep working as long as I can

There's a big difference between no applicants and hard working, knowledgeable workers who can't get past the HR dept.

how about all those federal hires? best pay in the country and almost the world. no one can compete with that, especially since they don't seem to have to deliver anything concrete

Bring back benefits and a living wage
