As trust in politicians has declined, companies have come to be recognised as powerful agents of social change. Bosses are increasingly expected to speak out and take action WorldAhead

, when America’s Supreme Court overturned, the ruling that in 1973 declared abortion a constitutional right, hundreds of companies in America quickly came out in support of their female employees. This was not the first time companies had been expected to respond directly to a political event. It was the latest example of a broader shift in the way the private sector engages with sociopolitical issues—and in what it takes to be considered a good company by consumers, employees and shareholders.

Activist consumers expect companies not just to speak out, but to be consistent as they do so. Such consumers are vocal about their disdain, and quick to express it on social media. Yet, contrary to popular belief, being more political does not necessarily require companies to be progressive. Chick-Fil-A, an American fast-food chain, has maintained a strong brand even as it has faced boycotts for supporting organisations whose “traditional” values some see as homophobic.

But they are still operating for their companies profit only

Let’s be honest here, . People are turning to companies as agents for social change because corporations are the only ones with enough sway over legislators to get change. This is a sign that the outsized power of lobbying is distorting representative democracy.

Bosses should stfu and pay employees better rather than abuse the wealth their employees generate for them by attempting to normalize bullshit like pedophilia. Consumer's are more powerful, we can boycott them.

to trust politicians? never 🥸

WRONG! Companies need to focus on their businesses and stay away from ANY political agenda. Start working to provide wealth for your workers and shareholders. This is what any normal company should do. Did we skip that 101 how-to-run-a-business class?

Go woke, go broke. Go broke, fire woke employees. It’s simple!

Being preached to by companies trying to sell you their stuff. Not interested, thanks.

I miss the days when move companies focused on making good movies instead of having a political agenda. The latest stuff on Netflix and Disney is unwatchable and will be ridiculed in 50 years like we ridicule old racist movies
