In California, NetChoice alleges the new law will harm minors, rather than protecting them, while also infringing on First Amendment rights to free speech by forcing companies to guess the meaning of "inherently subjective terms" from users. NetChoice says the law, which is set to take effect in July 2024, will produce "overwhelming pressure to over-moderate content to avoid the law's penalties for content the State deems harmful."
