The chief executive of the small business council has resigned, after a backlash by some members and Liberal MPs over the group’s role in the Albanese government’s industrial relations changes.

The sweeping industrial relations law passed parliament in December.

Deputy Liberal leader Sussan Ley in December called for Ms Boyd’s position to be reviewed, and she was criticised in a private meeting with Coalition MPs.She said in a statement she was proud of the work she had done to elevate the group nationally in representing the complex area of small business. “After time spent at home over the summer break I now plan to spend more time with my family. I look forward to keeping engaged with COSBOA’s future and will always be on hand to help out.”Mr Addison will oversee CEO activities with the assistance of colleagues, while a formal process for recruitment of a new chief is carried out.
