Utah Governor Spencer Cox and Attorney General Sean Reyes said they have not yet taken legal action against social media apps, but plan to do so sometime in the future.

“Without strong action on our part, social media companies will simply not make the changes necessary to protect our children,” Cox said in a news conference on Monday. He alleged that social media apps are designed so that users won’t want to put them down.

Neither Cox nor Reyes would specify which social media companies would be sued or what particular claims potential litigation would address. No lawsuits have been filed at this time. “You can expect that any lawsuits we filed together will include demands for safeguards commensurately higher given the importance of what is at stake, the well-being of our kids,” Reyes said.

Reyes said the state has been investigating social media technology companies for a “significant amount of time” and they are exploring “any and all claims.” Addressing the use of social media among minors and its impact on mental health has been a key issue for the governor recently.

Cox and Reyes: we are going to sue people, all the people, we've been investigating for a long time. We don't want to REALLY fix problems in Utah. But if wesue enough people, the problems will go away. Or people will forget. Yes. Must. Sue.

Because the only thing Sean Reyes does in office is waste money on insane lawsuits that will never lead to anything to foment the culture war that gets his party elected to office.

This is a distraction to the disaster on the hill.

He should have said ' On behalf of the Mormon church we are going to sue social media companies because the church wants to garner some influence over them. Wether they use us for that or invoke some state law. The church must be able to insert their beliefs' fixed it for you.

Why don’t you put this on the ballot?

R uguys really this board? You don’t have anything better to work on?how about U worry about your house and I will worry about what goes on at my house, mind your dmn business why don’t you ask the voters what is most important to them for you to work on

This is going to be dumpster fire.

Sean Reyes is a Traitor. He's lost all credibility for us.

GovCox and UtahAG just ignore guns and gun deaths. They are sinister and corrupt.

How did he get Reyes to spend anytime in Utah?

Reyes tried to overturn the election 🤡🤡🤡

Never met a taxpayer dollar they couldn't wait to spend. WasteOfMoney

Would be nice to see the governor go after religions for the damage they are inspiring against our LGBTQIA youth. Since you know, mental health of our youth is important.

Everything looks less serious when Sean Reyes is in the photo

Maybe the governor should try prayer. Hell he tried that to address the drought during the summer.

Another waste of taxpayer money.

Wow. What a pair of great guys.

Waste of time and money as the result will be nothing.

Adorable that our politicians think that kids don't know how to lie online.

Utah set to sue social media companies to 'protect our kids'Comparing social media companies to those that pushed opioids and tobacco, Utah Gov. Spencer Cox announced the state is set to sue those companies in an effort to protect children. Mean while. People can’t afford housing. Can’t afford food. Wages aren’t going up and prices are so out of wack. Oh. But let’s battle social media instead. The GOP sucks so bad. It would probably make sense if the Ch_JesusChrist stopped investing in social media companies as well then?
