Six trucks were destroyed and several others damaged, said David Anstett, U-Haul’s Western Ontario president, adding gas cans and gas-siphoning tools were found at the scene. “The trucks that were destroyed or damaged are being removed from the lot today, and it’s business as usual. A rubber hose led from the gas tank of one truck to a collection of four jerry cans – one completely melted – sitting near the charred vehicles. Another four plastic containers holding a yellow liquid sat on the bumper of an undamaged truck.
I rented a truck from that location a couple of months ago and they said they had a problem with gas theft then. They were trying to keep the truck tank levels around 1/4 to discourage and minimize fuel theft.
