Strategic Voices: Ann Phelps' approach to new job at Trailer Bridge

Building up a team, going through a merger, launching a new product, making a pivot — all of these steps are things that can make or break a company.

Just a few weeks ago, Ann Phelps was promoted to vice president of customer experience for Trailer Bridge’s Ocean Division. After joining the company as a temporary employee in 1999, Phelps has seen the expansion and growth in Trailer Bridge’s efforts in the maritime industry, but has also learned a lot about herself in her time there.It’s a man's world. Transportation…it’s mostly men, and men as leaders at that. So for me to gain my wings, I really had to work hard.

Show up, show up in a positive way with a positive attitude, every day. And whenever you see something that needs to change or be done differently, speak your mind and don’t hold back.
