A week after a deadly fire ravaged a building in Old Montreal that included units available for rent on Airbnb, the company says it plans to remove all Quebec listings that have not been authorized by the provincial government.

Ban all unlicensed airbnbs. Apartment buildings and flats in residential areas were not meant to be short term rentals for tourists.

GOP lawmakers should not focus so much on people's crotch and follow suit with what the Quebec government just did concerning unsafe airbnb accommodations. There must be tens of thousand places in the US without proper escape route should a fire occur in a building

This is good. But I think too much emphasis is on Airbnb. The building was a fire trap to begin with and could have happened even if the units weren't Airbnb. City of Montreal and the landlord are responsible. More so the City of Montreal.. where were the inspections
