As Koeberg's decommissioning date draws ever closer, the National Nuclear Regulator is confident it can meet its tight schedule to decide whether to approve a life-extension plan, as long as Eskom itself does not cause any delays.

On Tuesday, the Department of Mineral Resources and Energy, Eskom, and the National Nuclear Regulator provided Parliament with an update on the nuclear power station's plan for long-term operation , which requires approval to extend the plant's life from 40 years to 60 years.
