Trade Secretary Alfredo E. Pascual said the recently-launched Philippine Export Development Plan 2023-2028 will focus on empowering local industries, among others, to “flourish” in the global arena.
“It’s really more on the focus on industry rather than in the past it has always been macro eh. Eh ngayon tutok tayo sa mga industry levels tsaka yung we’re targeting also yung mga tinatawag na maliliit, hindi man sila malaki pero dapat sila yung idevelop natin, sila yung resource-based natin sila yung agriculture natin na we would like to develop,” the Philexport chief said.
But, most critically, the Trade chief stressed, “we need to attract investments both domestic and foreign” as this is crucial in enhancing, expanding, and diversifying the country’s production capabilities to meet the “discerning needs” of foreign markets and evolving global supply chains.
