t age 175, industrial-technology powerhouse Siemens has its sights on the metaverse. Its Xcelerator platform, launched last year, includes digital-twin software to create photorealistic virtual versions of real-world manufacturing facilities. Companies are using Xcelerator to speed up production of electric vehicles, improve battery-cell manufacturing, and reduce factory carbon footprints. Siemens also has a multiyear contract with the U.S.
. The “industrial metaverse,” says CEO Roland Busch, “has the potential to solve many real-world problems.”
