County music artist Chase Matthew, who has previously said that he wants to bring"morals back to country music," called on the country music business to have more"God" in its songs.

"I think there’s a lot of things people are scared to talk about," Matthew said Tuesday during Fox News Channel's Fourth of July celebration coverage."I’m walking proof right now and country music, we definitely need to bring back God in our songs and not run from the fact that the Lord is what built us," he said.

A Nashville native, Matthew has been one of country's hottest newcomers, with sold-out crowds and more than 360 million global streams of his first RIAA-certified gold song"County Line.""Life is going to beat you up," he shared with the Fox hosts. The rising star added,"There are always people that will shun you a little bit for being proud of where you came from and holding a standard for yourself, too. I feel like I’m not here to make anybody else happy.

Matthew beat drug addiction and homelessness before pursuing his country music career. He now averages 1.5 million monthly listeners on Spotify and recently performed at the prestigious Grand Ole Opry.
