Steel Speed is the latest to acquire industrial land on the west-end property

Steel Speed says it plans a 20,000-square-foot facility on a 4-acre property it just acquired on Yates Avenue.

In a news releases issued via the city, the local company says it plans to store material and equipment at the new building and expand its fabrication services. Around since 1992, Steel Speed offers electrical services, civil works, scaffolding and carpentry, crane rentals, structural and miscellaneous steel fabrication and installation.

"We are thrilled to unveil our plans for this significant expansion," said Chris Rollin, who co-owns Steel Speed with Mauro Vallecorsa. "This expansion signifies our dedication to giving back and investing in the region's growth. The new facility will enable us to offer even better services to our clients, enhance our competitiveness in the market and positively contribute to the local job market.

The city announced the potential sale in March of 4 acres of industrial land on Yates Ave. "to Chris Rollin in Trust for a Company to be Incorporated." The city owns a large chunk of land zoned for heavy industry in the Yates area and has been offering it for sale. In April it announced plans to sell a 2-acre parcel to Trimount Construction Group, and in April announced the proposed sale of another 4 acres to Brampton-based Vector Freight Systems Inc.
