Investors are now looking ahead to Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell’s afternoon press conference and the release of the central bank’s latest decision on interest rates. The S&P 500 SPX, +0.16% opened higher by 7 points, or 0.

1%, to 4,199. The Nasdaq Composite COMP, +0.34% rose by 36 points, or 0.3%, to 12,884. The Dow Jones Industrial Average DJIA, -0.03% rose by 11 points, or less than 0.1%, to 33,058.
