Unlike 37 other states which now allow some process for felony sealing, Pennsylvania’s current legislation is limited to misdemeanors.

That means people, including those who have struggled with addiction, often continue to be burdened by decades-old convictions. HB 689 would expand Pennsylvania’s existing automatic record sealing, bringing the Commonwealth in line with the best practices of states across the country.

Expanding Clean Slate would have a huge impact on both businesses and workers.
