As Starlink shutoff looms for South Africans, companies aren't giving up hope

Companies which have been helping South Africans access Starlink have not given up hope of avoiding a shut-down of services. This is despite the fact that Starlink said users in South Africa will be cut-off at the end of the month and the declaration by ICASA that using the service in South Africa is illegal.

While Starlink has resolved to cut off its services to those using it for extended periods in South Africa at the end of this month, service providers haven't given up hope. Representatives from two companies that import and manage Starlink subscriptions on behalf of a host of South African customers said that options might be available to continue accessing the satellite internet service.

This comes after Starlink sent a message to users stating that it would cut off services to users operating in areas where it had not been granted a licence. The Independent Communications Authority of South Africa also issued a notice in a Government Gazette late last year, officially stating that using the services in the country was illegal.South Africans need to be in the know if we want to create a prosperous future.
