A pharmacist who plundered £15,000 worth of medication to secretly stock up an online business he set up to 'prove himself' to his high achieving family has walked free from court.
At Chester Crown Court, Al-Shakarchi, from Great Sankey, Warrington, Cheshire whose father is a leading Harley Street orthopaedic doctor and whose younger brother is a successful conflicts manager for a leading New York law firm faced up to three years jail under sentencing guidelines after he admitted two counts of fraud and two counts of theft.
His online gaming blog reads: 'I realized that my previous job was not something I wanted to do for the rest of my life, so I took a leap of faith and quit to pursue my passion full-time.' The thefts occurred between August 2021 and May 2022 whilst Al-Shakarch was working as a freelance pharmacist between a Superdrug in Birkenhead, Wirral and Well Pharmacy in Runcorn, Cheshire.
Mr Al-Shakarchi leaving court: He was sentenced to 16 months in prison, suspended for 18 months with requirements that he completes ten days of rehabilitative activity and 150 hours of unpaid work after both relatives filed glowing character references to the court 'It was noted that she found it strange he always wanted to be on the pharmacy computer, in the morning and the afternoon.'On March 31, a stock check was made. It was revealed that there should have been a drug but no such drug was there and it had not been dispensed for about six months. They found other drugs that should not be there and had not been dispensed.'
