Dia Bell, a Texas Longhorns commit and one of the top-ranked junior quarterbacks in the nation, has reportedly taken advantage of Florida's new name, image and likeness regulations by signing a six-figure deal with Leaf Trading Cards. Pete Nakos of On3.com on Tuesday reported Bell, who plays for American Heritage in Plantation, Fla., had agreed to a deal with the Dallas-based trading card and collectibles company worth over $400,000.
It is believed to be one of the most lucrative contracts signed by a high school athlete in Florida. Back in June, the Florida High School Athletic Association voted to allow prep athletes to sign name, image and likeness deals without forfeiting their remaining high school eligibility. The bill was ratified July 24, opening the door for stars like Bell to sign endorsement deals.
