A motion of no confidence against Executive Mayor Cilliers Brink is set to be debated later today.

The African National Congress Greater Tshwane Region says its national structure has given them the green light to continue with the removal of the Democratic Alliance – led coalition in the city. The ANC and other opposition parties say they have lost faith in Brink’s leadership, citing service delivery failures among other grievances.

ANC Tshwane Spokesperson, Bafuze Yabo, says, “I can confirm that we are going ahead with the motion of no confidence today. And the narrative that there is a defiance from within the ANC, the ANC would not tolerate such it’s not designed to accommodate defiance from within. So, the narrative there is a Panyaza Lesufi who has defied national is not true, the ANC has a structural way of dealing with matters.

Meanwhile, the DA is staging a protest outside Tshwane House to give residents the platform to show their support for Brink and his administration. DA Tshwane Caucus Spokesperson, Kwena Moloto says, “This march doesn’t just include members of the DA but the members of the general public as well, leaders of civil society, various organisations that also ran petitions to keep Cilliers Brink in power which would end up totalling over 50 000 signatures. It’s an opportunity for us to show that there are people who back Cilliers Brink.”

I want to thank everyone for the support this morning.
