Irish spirits go way beyond whiskey

A lot has been written about the renaissance of the Irish distilling industry in the last decade or so, but much of the focus has been on whiskey. This isn't necessarily a bad thing, we make some of the world's finest whiskeys after all, but while the uisce beatha may hog the limelight, it doesn't tell the whole story.

Kalak Taking its name from the Irish word “Cailleach”, a Celtic deity and the closest thing the Celts had to mother nature, Kalak vodka takes inspiration from the darker, more powerful side of nature. Kalak Citrus Spice You can absolutely enjoy Kalak neat, but here is a great way to spice it up while respecting that wonderful flavour and character.Add 50 ml of Kalak Single Malt Vodka, large ice cube, small cinnamon stick and a curl of lemon zest into a tumbler.

Boatyard Fermanagh's Boatyard Distillery sits on the banks of Lough Erne, about 10 miles outside Enniskillen. These beautiful surroundings serve as the perfect backdrop to Ireland's most sustainable distillery, where they make their delicious spirits using 100% organic ingredients and run fantastic, fun and educational tours.

Maharani Pomelo Vodka, which gets its official release this autumn, is crafted using ethically-sourced pomelo peels from Kerala, India, giving it a lovely citrus note on the palate and a smooth vodka finish.
