Limpopo premier Dr Phophi Ramathuba says the 4th Limpopo Investment Conference underway in Polokwane has drawn investors across the globe.
Ramathuba says the province has an abundance of natural resources and investment opportunities. She says that the conference also aims to attract investors from different sectors, including tourism, mining, infrastructure and the automotive industry amongst others. “We are Limpopo – development planned target, we have always put it at R30 billion but agreed as a team, as a collective, that our target will be R50 billion. But I can tell we are going to definitely double that target that we have put for this particular year, because if you look at the interest that we have been able to mobilise across not only the country even globally, even other continents.”
Furthermore, Ramathuba says they will conduct oversights to ensure that the investment pledges bear fruits in job creation. “We are also saying we need to monitor what those pledges are in the coming few months, in the coming year going to be translated into whether it’s the jobs temporary during the construction phase or if it’s projects that require construction and also permanent jobs once the project is already fully implemented,” she adds.
