TES offers financial and training support to the youth, the older farmers and young generations in rural communities for the production of organic foods. From the inception of this initiative in 2018 till date, more than 25 youths have been trained in the agronomy system of rice, maize and cassava. They have also been given financial support to practise farming.
It is so unfortunate that we live in a country where agriculture was pushed to the back and ignored for decades. Thank God for the new government policies which are aimed at reviving the sector. I didn’t study Agriculture in school but I developed myself in that sector. Young people in Nigeria and most parts of Africa, hardly dream of working in this sector. Most young people seek and pursue white-collar jobs.
I didn’t even think I could make it. Seeing the likes of Wizkid, Davido, and Yemi Alade, as past honourees on the Forbes Africa list made me feel it was a no-go area for me. I was surprised when I passed all the stages and was interviewed. After the interview, it took another two months before the announcement, so I felt I wasn’t selected and I forgot about it. I finally got a congratulatory mail in June.Firstly, spending your business profit on liabilities- it will kill the business faster than you can imagine.
Not a compliment. Very discouraging for investors. It's not a healthy environment.
