Hallett says that critics of a minimum wage increase in restaurants said it would result in widespread layoffs and closures. But in New York, where the minimum wage was increased to $15 an hour, the restaurant industry is booming. Revenue and employment are up, because restaurants don't have to raise prices too substantially to pay minimum wage.
