A new coalition is demanding Congress change rules set by the Federal Emergency Management Agency they say have devastated Pascagoula’s housing market.

by Sara DiNatale, Mississippi Today May 25, 2022 PASCAGOULA — Josh Church is usually just the messenger, but that doesn’t make him any more popular among city homeowners. Church is a building official. And in post-Katrina Pascagoula that has meant years of informing homeowners federal rules meant to protect them won’t allow them to spend the needed funds to repair their homes or keep them up to code.

Funny this is being said when FEMA said that no money would got out on loans or flood policies for new buyers if the buyer could not show the property was above current flood stages and that all cities, countries and states have proper drainage. Due poor use of money

Interesting. I thought if city/county/ state took steps to build flood protection and lower the risk of flooding then FEMA would increase payment. Has the city build levees or something to mitigate flooding?
