Cutting jobs. If you can pay cash for this merger why are food prices skyrocketed?

Yet another chain assimilated and run into the ground by this horrid corporation. The local Albertson's stores are clean and well stocked; the Fry's look like homeless shelters.

Monopolies are never good, they will control the price of food because the lack of competition, so the price of food will go up!

I hope this means they will open more of Mariano stores. It is home based in Chicago and it’s owned by Kroger a huge store catering to Italians foods huge deli and homemade foods.

Wonderful. Less competition is always good for the consumers.

NicoleSGrigg Ugh.

Expect closures of Fry’s, Smith’s and Safeway stores.

Expect closures of Fry’s, Smith’s and Albertson’s stores.

Does this mean higher prices for consumers?

Nothing much would change though-they will keep separate brands (like Albertsons and Safeway). I just hope the Fry‘s card works for all three stores.

Not good, not good at all for the consumer.

Good or bad?

Kroger announces deal to merge with Albertsons to form a mega grocery chain | CNN BusinessKroger announced it's merging with Albertsons in a $24.6 billion deal, creating one of the largest grocery store chains in the United States with nearly 5,000 stores when combined. Inflation: 14 Consumers: 0 Well, this won't help food prices or the bare shelves (and poor quality) at Kroger. I don't suppose the FTC will step in to thwart this attempted monopoly? Kroger sucks. I feel so sorry for their workers.

Albertsons Merger With Kroger Could Be Announced This WeekAlbertsons’ stock jumped and was briefly halted after news that the grocery chain may get acquired by grocery giant Kroger. Wasn't it just bought by Tom Thumb, who shut down any of them remotely close to an existing Tom Thumb? So now Kroger will do the same, horrible for the consumer. Build Back Better And replace all the employees with self-checkout? They both suck.

Grocery chains Kroger, Albertsons in talks for possible merger: reportA possible agreement could reportedly be reached as soon as this week. In February, Albertsons' board of directors launched a review of potential strategic alternatives. Less competition=higher prices & profits. The 'trust' in antitrust. The breaking of supply and demand. Bernie is not going to be happy! The DOJ should never allow this merger.
