President Joe Biden on Wednesday urged American oil companies to increase production and refining to bring down the price of gas for consumers.

The president also outlined a plan to refill the reserve once oil prices drop to $70 a barrel, which he emphasized would allow oil companies to ramp up production now with the confidence that they’d “be able to sell their oil to us at that price in the future.”
“My message to oil companies is this: You’re sitting on record profits. And we’re giving you more certainty so you can act now to increase oil production now,” Biden said. He also asked Congress to pass an energy permitting bill to accelerate the development of clean energy. Sen., but getting it passed proved difficult as it faced stiff opposition from both parties.

Oil companies would need years at many of the new drilling site to recoup their costs and begin turning a profit. They won’t drill under Biden on federal land because they know he will revoke their leases the moment gas prices come down, leaving them unable to recover costs

Oil companies are price gouging. Their costs are the same as in 2010. They charge an extra dollar per gallon. But they don’t invest their profits. They pay dividends to investors and give bonuses to execs. Biden is fighting for ordinary people!
