‘A win for Australia’: Business hails Albanese-Xi meeting | KnottMatthew CroweDM

The head of Australia’s business lobby has welcomed the Albanese government’s “tremendous reset” with China ahead of a high-stakes meeting between Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and Chinese President Xi Jinping on Tuesday evening.was a “win for Australia”, hailing its potential to kickstart the economic relationship with Australia’s biggest trading partner.

Westacott, who has strongly criticised the government’s planned industrial relations changes to encourage multi-employer bargaining, was effusive about the government’s foreign policy achievements. He said Australia was “seen as being in the naughty corner on climate change” under the previous Coalition government, locking Australia out of important opportunities for international co-operation.

“Getting Australia back to a strong bilateral relationship with China is key,” he told this masthead.Following his meeting with Xi, Biden said he did not believe China and the US had “entered a new Cold War”.

KnottMatthew CroweDM Australia's government have decided its not part of Asia and have embarked on a xenophobic warmongering policy towards Asia. A decision with grave consequences for Australia's existence.

KnottMatthew CroweDM Australia cannot be considered as a civilised country when Aboriginal genocide continues.

KnottMatthew CroweDM Just fixing up the crap the Libs left.

KnottMatthew CroweDM I think people are getting a bit carried away with this unofficial 'meeting'. I'd be more worried about Albo275 selling out Australia to give himself some clear political air.

Beijing wants ‘silence’ from Australia as it ‘goes about its business’Strategic Analysis Australia’s Michael Shoebridge says the “price” of the meeting between Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and Chinese President Xi Jinping is “silence from our government” as Beijing “goes about its business”. “That’s true whether it's influence in South-East Asia or in the Solomons with Mr Sogavare as the big opportunity,” Mr Shoebridge told Sky News host Andrew Bolt. “I think that’s something the government has to be really weary about and not pay the price of silence.” He added Australia has changed the “global view” of China by speaking up “calmly and firmly”.
