analysis of federal data found four-year colleges with at least 2,500 applications for the fall 2021 semester posted an average acceptance rate of 68%. Twenty-two colleges posted single-digit acceptance rates in 2021 and 145 schools posted acceptance rates under 50%. The analysis, which included 866 total U.S. colleges, shows an average matriculation rate of 23%. The 65 colleges with the lowest acceptance rates all posted above-average matriculation rates, which measure the percentage of students that accept admission offers.new national List of America's Most Selective Colleges and Universities.
