Australia's largest business association has thrown its support behind the Federal Government's plan to provide payments to energy consumers if the state governments agree to gas and coal price caps.

to introduce price caps for gas and coal.

Mr McKellar hopes a decision can be reached after Friday's meeting to minimise the impact of the forecasted price rises. The NSW and Queensland governments have expressed concern over the loss of royalties should they introduce the proposed caps of $125 per tonne of coal and $13 per gigajoule of gas. NSW has indicated it would be willing to cop the lost royalties if the Commonwealth signs off on the rebates for its residents but Queensland has resisted over concerns it will lose the $10.7 billion in annual state royalties from coal mining.

“On one hand they’re saying we shouldn’t be using them and moving away from them,” he told Sky News Australia on Friday.

Fuel that inflation!

It's all Tax payer funds. Current energy shock will pass but Bowen's call on taxpayer funds to stump up unreliable renewables will continue unabated. State sanctioned climate lunacy channeling finance into second rate energy.
