South Africa recorded foreign direct inflows of R11.9 billion in the third quarter of 2022, down from inflows of R26.2 billion in the second quarter, central bank data showed on Thursday.

The South African Reserve Bank said the inflows were a result of foreign companies increasing their equity and debt investments in domestic subsidiaries. The central bank said the outflows were due to non-residents selling domestic equities and, to a lesser extent, debt securities.
