Former employee claims in lawsuit that she was sexually assaulted by her supervisor.

A former Crowley Maritime employee who says she was raped by her boss while on a business trip to Jacksonville can proceed with her lawsuit against the First Coast company, a federal judge ruled last week.

In a statement in response to questions, Crowley said that it has zero tolerance for sexual misconduct of any kind. "Because Mr. Blanco was a 'star performer,' and because of his ability to drive profits for Crowley, Crowley simply transferred Blanco to a new team instead of terminating his employment," she says in her complaint, filed in March.

That act happened in a Jacksonville hotel room in November 2017, Treminio said in her lawsuit. Blanco, who had paid for the rooms using a company credit card, got a duplicate key to her room, the suit says. He then entered the room and raped Treminio, the suit says. However, Tremino's suit says, LaMoureaux told her not to file a complaint with HR about the rape, saying that if the story became public, the company’s reputation would be damaged, which could result in layoffs.
