Gearing up to the World Economic Forum, finance minsiter Enoch Godongwana has the tricky job of selling South Africa to the world as a hub for investment, despite rolling blackouts.

The finance minister Enoch Godongwana says that South Africa remains open for investment from the world, load shedding and all.

Godongwana, in partnership with the private sector, now has the tricky job of convincing the globe that South Africa remains a hub for investment. According to Momentum Investment’s latest market outlook for January this year, growth outputs remain at risk from persistent disruptions at malfunctioning state-owned enterprises.

“An unstable electricity supply remains one of the biggest barriers to economic growth, and it disturbs the lives of all South Africans,” said the finance minister. “Ending blackouts and solving the energy crisis remains among the government’s top priorities.” He noted that the economy is now back to pre-pandemic levels, with real GDP 1.2% higher than pre-pandemic levels.

I can't, it's dark because the lights aren't on !!!

And then we must look past the thieving corrupt political regime… oh faak off!

.... only if you can see in the dark!!

Rather take a snake into the room and tell the investors to look past that. You’ll have just as much luck. SOLVE the problem, that is the only way!!!!

Load shedding is one issue for investors , however you can't look past no economic growth, crime and an incompetent government - look at the ANC they have screwed up SA for decades

VoetsekANC

Wonder if 1+1 = 111 in these peoples thinking. How do you participate in competative business in this country, with all it's racist/business laws and incompetent goverment management.

What a STUPID thing to even suggest. Thought he had a bit more grey matter

Lol

Not easy seeing in the dark....

' just ignore it and it'll go away'

Why should they? They should stop investing in this country because that money goes straight to the ANC pockets. There's no improvement in anything in this country. Everything is gone to the dogs BlackGovernance

Terrible

The past of load shedding is a dream. Investors are realists.

This is so embarrassingly stupid, I almost can't look at it.

😳… look past load shedding… how? Do we really understand the consequences for 🇿🇦 and within the global context? The Biggest Global Risks of 2023

😂🤣😂🤣

Like we looked past your Kruger massage debacle! Come on mate! You can do way better than that! 🍆

Like Jesus Christ?

Is these government self employed delusional? We are not

We can not look past, it is dark

Kantile Minister IHLATHI !!!

LeagoPapo lol

Is he seriously telling investors to ignore arguably the biggest risk to their investments?

Let me try ... oh yes, I see what you mean. If I look past the loadshedding, I see the corruption, maladministration, crime, stupid policies. And if I look behind that ... aaah yes there it is... the ANC! Thanks for the advice.

We are doomed as country. 😭

You forgot to ask them to do that during the daytime because it is dark at night with no electricity so they can’t see anything no matter how hard they look.

HOW

Lol when you want to buy a car and it has no wheels just say… look past the wheels!!

It's like the CEO saying to potential investors, don't worry about the cash flow statement and balance sheet :(.

If this is the calibre of our finance minister and his blabbering , there is no hope , useless and pointless

Ha ha ha ha ha …. Ummmmm

Seriously out of touch with reality and the present.

Your bullshit doesn’t fly anymore!

Yes Minsister of Finance. Give me your generator and I will look past loadshedding.

Sums up the leadership right there 🫡

Ok I tried, but then all I saw was more load shedding

what a poeste

It’s too dark too look at anything let one past it

Cant see its dark!!

Like we did to his sexual assault allegations?

Imagine you're potential investor worth billions & you're about to bring electric cars in the country with millions of jobs, factories, infrastructure & you're being told this nonsense. 🚮🚮

This guy is drunk?🥴 How do you ignore the common denominator? Without power the economy will collapse.

Try look past loadshedding? 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣😂😂😂😂😂

Surely they don’t get load shed cause there is no insight to the reality we are facing

Seriously don't use need f$%king electricity to run a business. What does he think they going to use unicorn farts? Might be easier to get that than electricity

Keep releasing those gasses MYANC One day they’ll blame climate change on all the 💩 politicians talk

This is what they see:

Please ignore the rampant corruption as well

These people (ANC leaders) can no longer be considered normal at this rate. There is something really off about them.

Right into Bee ,Aa. What a view

I did, and then I saw your thieving face, looked past it, then saw Ramaphosa's face, then Gwede's face, I can't do it, niyanya, nibabi, futsek

Genius idea.

Almost always we are told 'businesses must be able to adapt' and also 'adapt or die'. Yet, when it comes to the loadshedding issue, only thing there is are complaints and complaints and more complaints.

🤣🤣🤣

Bwa ha ha ha 😂 🤣 😆 I can't take the comedy 🤣 African comedy it's simply painful

In a nutshell. Come & invest in South Africa but please bring your own electricity 🙈. The ANC government is an embarrassment! Investors will simply look at other country’s where it’s easier to do business.

I'm want to sell you this car it runs very good but try and look past the fact that it has no engine.

Nonsense!

Thats nice

Try look past running a loss-making business/investment, finance minister tells investors...🤡🤡🤡

how do you ask them to look passed their biggest crutch when trying to earn an income. Losing money on a daily basis does not sound like viable investment. How about fix the problem rather than asking people to overlook incompetence?

Your government fooled most of us for three decades, investors are much wiser and will not buy this tripe ever.

What a clown 🤡

Next time he goes to the bog, let him have no paper, he can look past it.

Oh, for crying out loud! 😫

Are we really going to wait until next year to get rid of these clows? Seriously? Do we really deserve this?

Ok then what. You come face to face with BEE, quotas, prohibitive labour laws, militant unions, no infrastructure, mafia syndicates...tell us when to stop! F..king 🤡 thinks we are playing marbles in a children’s school playground.

Really… 🤣🤣🤣🤌🏾🤌🏾🤌🏾 VoetsekANC

How do you look past the energy you need to operate your business or you should organize your own power

Jip! Looters sont care about loadshedding! They just want their greedy little hands on the freebees!

You see this massive pile of shit? Just block your nose and give us your money.

It's the thought that counts, right?

I mean, hard to see past anything in the dark…

😂😂😂😂😂 ok maybe just look past the entire country

😂😂😂....the audacity

Oh wow talk about dark humour

Too dark to look past anything though.

Dream on, Minister. This is the real world, not your dreamy ANC microcosm.

Oh. Well that solves that then.

We have a finance minister- who would’ve thought 💭

Pathetic...

Try to go get fucked!

😝

That is a bit hard to do you know, you kinda need electricity to do stuff like manufacturing, building and all the other stuff that an economy needs?!
