The historic restaurant may be losing the site in which it’s operated for four decades, but a new spot is in the works.

Thursday, March 2, 2023, was moving day for the San Pedro Fish Market which is in talks to reopen a long-term temporary spot 200 yards to the north. Talks are ongoing with restaurant owners and developers of the new West Harbor waterfront attraction set to open in late 2024.

The San Pedro Fish Market prepares to move out of its long-standing legacy location Thursday, March 2, 2023, while talks continue for a relocated spot nearby. Folks lined up to carry platters heaped high with fresh fish to the familiar outdoor bench-seat tables at the edge of San Pedro’s shipping channel. The family-owned business was leaving its legacy location on San Pedro’s waterfront — where the restaurant has been for more than four decades — because of a new development that’s beginning construction.

“This is a fantastic brand, it’s a fantastic company and these are fantastic workers,” McOsker said of the restaurant as he arrived to meet with owners on Thursday. “I want to make sure we do everything possible to make sure this is around for another six generations.”

Larry Hunt, known as San Francisco's 'Bucket Man' of Market Street, dies at 64For years, Hunt played his makeshift drums as long as he had an audience to entertain - and that he did. I made a scavenger hunt throughout the city for my then gf, now partner. I asked him if he could hold a clue for her to find and he did without question. He was an amazing guy. Nice as can be. Rest In Peace sir.
