OK, maybe don’t forget the black pudding completely. It is, after all, a coiled institution, as synonymous with Bury as Robert Peel, the Neville brothers and Elbow.
But Turkish cuisine is another matter. Turkish Gozleme - goz-leh-may - sits on the corner of the outdoor market, just by the food hall and before you get into the warren of stalls selling everything from discount cereal to giant underpants. On a sunny morning, you could - if you squint really hard and maybe stick your headphones in too - be in a market anywhere in the Orient, with the smells of cinnamon, fresh bread and grilling shawarma drifting over its outdoor tables.
Named after the Turkish dish that forms the centrepiece of this excellent breakfast, you’ll feel both stuffed and even a bit virtuous afterwards, arguably unlike when you’ve crammed down half a loaf of fried bread. For £9, you can choose either the meat or a vegetarian gozleme, which is enough for two, plus some slices of sharp feta cheese, some salad, olives and thin fried slices of garlicky Turkish sausage. You get a glass of Turkish tea too, which is sweet and lemony.
