Cr Thompson has promised to again try to stall the plan, describing the message from businesses as "loud and clear".It's long been free to park at the waterfront, but in June the council flagged plans to expand paid parking from next year in Townsville. "There might be a cost to council and therefore the community, by paying for these car parking meters," he said."Councillors are not fully understanding the consequences of this decision on a community environment."
