UIF hosted an employer registration drive focused on supporting crèches and small businesses within the Emfuleni Local Municipality at Mafatsane Thusong Centre in Evaton on November 20, 2024. has paid about R2.9 billion of outstanding claims to eligible beneficiaries during the first and second quarters of the current financial year.
The Minister of Employment and Labour, Nomakhosazana Meth, briefed the Portfolio Committee on the annual performance report for the year under review.“Significant progress was made in addressing the outstanding claims backlogs with 99% of approved benefits paid within 10 working days disbursing R2.9 billion rand to beneficiaries.”
“Honourable chairperson the committee, the department is dealing with the issues that have been raised by the Auditor General on both funds which the committee is aware of. I would like to assure the committee that we are attending to these issues. Efforts are underway to strengthen internal controls and continue to stabilise the online systems that were caused by some disputes,” added Meth.
