American companies remain keen on tapping business opportunities in China, despite trade tensions between the two countries.

"According to what we know so far, the majority of agreements have already been completed," Ren said. "There are still some agreements and contracts in the process of being carried out because they are a one-year agreement." In addition to reducing the trade deficit, the Trump administration would like China to improve the business environment for foreign companies by addressing complaints on issues such as forced technology transfer, a lack of intellectual property protection and an uneven playing field in a system controlled by the state.
