Facebook's primary goal in developing gaming content is likely to draw younger users back to its main platform:

in its main navigation bar, providing easier transitions between gaming content and the core site.

In terms of the cloud-gaming competition, Facebook's large, multi-device audience and ingrained social features could provide a strong foundation for success. One of the key advantages cloud gaming offers over traditional consoles is the ability to stream a wide variety of high-quality games anywhere, whether that's on a TV, a laptop, or a smartphone.

If Facebook were to integrate cloud-based gaming into their broader set of Facebook Gaming features, they may have an immediate audience eager to engage with gaming content outside of the traditional console/TV set-up. In line with such reasoning, PlayGiga was working with telecommunication companies to develop cloud-gaming capabilities specifically for mobile devices.

Facebook's social features could also give it an edge in the cloud gaming space, whether that's Facebook's messaging services, group formation capabilities, or the ability to easily share content with others. Google Stadia's launch for its failure to deliver on promised social features like State Share and Crowd Play .
