The CRL Commission shut down 15 initiation schools in four regions of the Eastern Cape
The Chairperson of the Portfolio Committee on Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs, Faith Muthambi, says she is saddened by the death of the 22 boys atAll the boys died because of dehydration. Muthambi has expressed her heartfelt condolences to the families. She says they are going to try and find long term solutions to the problem.
“We are going to call the National House of Traditional Leaders, including the South African Congress of Traditional leaders so that we find a long-lasting solution. We cannot be reactive again. I think there has to be a solution to this problem.”
Solution: people, young and old should go to the hospital/clinic for circumcision. This is the way in which we are assured of professional and clean help. Children should be taught manhood from an early age through the Word of God. There is NO NEEDfor initiation schools
What is the cause of these deaths?
Culture is one thing but when young men die every year, senselessly, the culture needs to evolve. The practitioners selfishly wish to protect their income and dont care about the initiates. At R500 at shot, one just has to do the arithmetic. Its shameful. The state must intervene
22 initiates are many. The worst part is they didn't die all instantly. These initiation school must fall man. We can sell the soul of our future leaders because of money.its enough man.
Saddened is an understatement, she and all of us should be outraged. Someone must put a stop to this carnage.
