Will house prices rise or fall this year? 🏠

Buying or selling a home can feel like an endless merry-go-round for anyone caught up in a tortuous house move.

The dominant feature of the market in the last 12 months has been caution. Many potential sellers decided to stay put amid political and economic uncertainty, amid the Brexit debate and general election.A carnival-themed home may feel like the appropriate metaphor for the goings-on in Westminster last year. While this put off sellers, demand among potential buyers remained relatively stable.

It was a similar picture among tenants, Manchester and Liverpool were the most searched areas among renters after Bristol, according to Rightmove. The result of the general election has brought a level of political certainty and a clear route, in the short-term at least, for the Brexit process. These predictions are for a UK average, but the housing market must always be considered on a local level. House prices can be affected by anything from schools to new developments and transport links, sometimes recording different rates of change from street to street.

I suspect you will see a rise in prices as a result of regulations and taxes the only people that can build a home or purchase a new home are the well to do the the working class will remain renters unable to afford homes

OH NO! NOT THE OLD BBC PLOY OF, 'EXPERTS SAY'!!

Rise, just wait till that massive bubble pops again. It has to, not enough new buyers entering the market

Bbc should be a news provider not a moronic question setter!

Depends where you live , some never go up In value only down

tory effing landlords won't be out of pocket-look into that,

Doesn't matter, it's a racket anyway

Higher. Lower...oh I don't know...

Duh

Phew I thought nobody was gonna stop the guy with the beard

what about sleeping bags, we dont all live in houses ya know

Well: They rise because the £ is gonna be worth less. Or the drop because no one with a brain wants to live in the U.K.

House prices need to crash big time. We’re now into the second generation who can’t afford these crazily high costs. U45s are often far worse off than their parents & grandparents. Student debt and quadrupled housing costs are crippling UK.

It's a stupid question, anyone who knows anything about the housing market it is RIGGED. The market is controlled to keep prices rising. Anytime it looks like falling the Gov will step in. Home owners vote and most vote Tory they also pay their bills and can be taxed to the hilt

Ask yourself how many will be given to non tax payers fresh into the country? Then think how many won’t go to those who have lived and paid their taxes having been born in the UK.

What ever the price I can't even afford it

This is not news News is reporting a rise or fall in house prices

They may rise and fall. They may fall and rise. Only one thing is certain. They won’t be staying where they are.

Rise of course

Fallll

50 per cent chance either way.

House prices are a load of nonsense you can sell for whatever price you decide

Smaller houses than mine in a new development are up for £200k more than I paid. If I wanted to upsize I’d have to inflate my price, so yes, more building of extortionate priced new builds will push up the market.

Will house prices rise or fall this year.........WHAT A STUPID QUESTION what we should be asking is WILL THE BBC REPORT ANYTHING HONESTLY AND WORTHWHILE?

Just stick to reporting the news not pointless articles

Yes

They will rise for sure ⬆️

Fall. And with the inevitable drop in value of the pound due to Brexit, we’ll become the Lidl of Europe.

They will rise! After the last 3 years of Brexit and uncertainty over the future, people will be more confident now and moving house/buying property will be on the increase!

no one under 40 gives a fuck lads

Ask Craig David

Doesnt matter. The pound will be worthless either way leading to more immigrants with stronger euros buying them over the next year before Boris's nazi immigration control comes into force.

Hopefully fall... (I'm buying one) they can rise after that

Stay the same?

Fk knows

Depends on what sort of population control/ manipulation needs forced upon us this year.

they will fall as all the remoaners piss off to the EU with a bit of luck

They will probably do one or the other. Fall in the SE and rise everywhere else.

Yes.
