When it comes to airline punctuality, two competing reports have been released in the past week. On January 2, the travel data analytics firm Cirium released its annual , ranking the most punctual airlines for 2019. The company bases its ranking on its monitoring of more than 100,000 flights a day and defines an on-time flight as one that arrives at the gate within 15 minutes of its scheduled time. On January 3, OAG—the travel data and insight provider—released its own annual ranking of the most punctual airlines. OAG based itsreport on 57.5 million flight records from 2019 and looks at the largest 250 passenger airlines and whether their flights arrive within 15 minutes of the scheduled time. OAG splits its list of airlines into a number of categories, including mega and mainline .
Indonesian airline Garuda topped the OAG list with 19 out of 20 flights arriving on time. Aeroflot was named the most punctual mega airline in Europe. Hawaiian Airlines was North America’s most punctual airline ahead of Delta and Alaska Airlines ., two different sites ranked the options. Cheap travel website Globehunters.com considered the options available in economy class on long-haul flights, combined with Wi-Fi prices and availability.
