"We live in a society that expects you to be on a certain track," said Lizzie Dipp Metzger."And, if you're not super successful within that track by a certain age, you feel bad about yourself." After graduating college, she had been a wedding planner, preschool teacher, and worked in her husband's company, which built custom race cars. Then the recession happened. Demand for the cars precipitously dropped and her husband shuttered the business.
As luck would have it, her husband, Brian Metzger, was recruited by New York Life as a financial services professional."I was there all the time," said Dipp Metzger. They hired her, too."Even though I was working, I sharpened my sword through education." She studied after she put the children to sleep. She went on to receive several accreditations: Certified Financial Planner, Accredited Estate Planner, and Master of Science in Financial Services.
