The buy button allows consumers to quickly check out with any of their cards, which could limit online cart abandonment. Once consumers sign up for an account and enter their payment and shipping information, which can include multiple cards and addresses, they'll be able to quickly check out with any merchant that features the button because they won't need to input their information a second time.
Previously, many companies offered their own buy button to provide this value, but the new buy button could perform better because it should be more widely available. Many of the participating card networks, PayPal, Walmart, and others, have offered their own buy buttons. But because there are so many buy buttons out there, they're not all available at each merchant, limiting the value of the simplified checkout process.
