Biden's stance is more extreme than many lawmakers' who've confronted tech executives about the legal protection known as Section 230.

Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden told The New York Times editorial board that tech's legal shield known as Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act should be "revoked" for Facebook and other companies.

But the law also allows for tech companies to engage in "good faith" content moderation to remove violent and harassing content.Steve Marcus | Reuters Biden's stance is more extreme than other lawmakers who've confronted tech executives about the legal protection. Section 230 provides that tech companies should not be held liable for third-party content posted on their platforms.
