Australian Richie Porte from Trek Segafredo, has won his second Tour Down Under title after finishing in second place on the final stage of the UCI season-opening event in Australia. He was pipped by England’s Matthew Holmes in the final stretch for the stage win in three hours 24-minutes and 54 seconds.
Even though he finished second, the 2017 winner, added another Tour Down Under title as the overall leader. Meanwhile, defending champion, South Africa’s Daryl Impey of team Mitchelton-Scott, didn’t have the legs on the final climb, losing more than 30 seconds to finish sixth in the general classification.
