Dastan's severely beaten body was found in the workshop of his Blacktown auto wrecker's business in December 1995.Police said a post-mortem examination found the 52-year-old died of severe blunt force trauma to the head and face.No one was ever charged with his murder, despite the offer of a $100,000 reward in 1998.

Detectives re-opened the case in 2018 and are set to announce a NSW government reward of $1 million for information that leads to the conviction of those behind Dastan's murder.
