SINGAPORE — Trade and Industry Minister Chan Chun Sing has urged Singaporeans not to hoard items unnecessarily as it will cause “undue panic”.

His comments came hours after Singapore raised the disease outbreak response level to “orange” on Friday amid a rise in the number of confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus.

The Ministry of Trade and Industry is in close contact with the retailers regarding the situation, said Chan. Under the “orange” level of Dorscon, a disease is considered to be severe and spreads easily from person to person, but the disease has not spread widely in Singapore and is contained.
