Right I’ve dusted off “smith and hogan - Criminal Law” very unlikely there’s going to be an offence here unless the boy was 15 at the time of first message OR the CPS are happy to accept a sole common law offence of serious misconduct - very unlikely without a statutory offence

Misconduct in a public office is however a crime and is prosecutable I think? Perhaps a resignation and an apology would suffice but really it’s up to police
An interesting case because it will be difficult to argue that a politician fits into any of the traditional abuse of trust categories such as youth worker or residential care worker, that extend an offence to 16 and 17, under the AOT offences ...
