NSTnation “The PEKA module supports the Child Act (amendment) 2016.

Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail said the agencies also agreed to intensify enforcement measures through collaboration with Facebook during the meeting with representatives from telco companies.

“The measures include reporting and removing criminal materials on Facebook, as well as taking legal action against making pornographic materials and those found on sexual grooming of children. “The existing standard operating procedures by Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission for telcos will also be streamlined to accelerate the strengthening of laws especially on sexual offences committed against children,” she said.

Dr Wan Azizah who is also the Women, Family and Community Development Minister said she also met with representatives from Facebook two weeks ago.Dr Wan Azizah said the National Population and Family Development Board had also developed an education module to promote family and child safety .

She said the amended act also covered sexual offences against children and child sexual grooming for pornography, which PEKA also addressed.
